CEMEX Cement Plant Project Scoping
Background
CEMEX is one of the world’s major cement producers, based in Mexico, with operations throughout the world.
Business Problem
 CEMEX wanted to scope out use of advanced Gensym G2 technology at their plants, identifying specific projects likely to have high returns. The potential applications covered all aspects of production, including mining of the stone; crushing operations; logistics planning for raw materials, intermediate transport, inventory, and finished products; and plant operations such as kiln monitoring. Among their numerous existing plants, technology already in use varied from modern distributed control systems to minimal manual controls.
Solution
Several weeks of studies resulted in identification of numerous, specific projects that would have high return.
Results
CEMEX moved forward to build some of these applications, and many were quite successful.
